FREEDOM LIES IN BEING BOLD.
Known as "The Man with the Backbone", Danny McCormick is the current State Representative for Louisiana House District 1.
______________
I’m 64 years old and a lifelong resident of North Caddo Parish. My wife, Susan, and I have been married for 41 years, and we’re blessed with two children and six grandchildren, all of whom live in District 1.
Our family has always loved the rural lifestyle, but over the years, I’ve watched it slowly slip away. Higher taxes and endless regulations, pushed by those backed by wealthy environmentalists, have chipped away at the way of life we hold dear.
When the Caddo Lake National Heritage Area was proposed through multi-state federal legislation, it posed a serious threat to both personal and property rights in our community. I knew something had to be done. With the help of friends, I founded Caddo Lake’s Last Stand to fight against it. Through hard work and community support, we successfully stopped the bill, protecting our rights—for now.
That experience showed me the power of people uniting for a common cause. Building on that momentum, I founded Caddo Parish Alliance to continue bringing people together to defend our freedoms. When I was elected State Representative for Louisiana House District 1 in January 2020, I carried that same fighting spirit to the legislature. During my first session, I worked with grassroots advocates to secure several legislative victories for our district.
Our movement continues to grow, fueled by shared concerns, a love of freedom, and a commitment to stand together for what’s right. I am humbled and grateful for the trust of the people of District 1 and remain dedicated to protecting the values that make our community strong.
